Beseck Mountain / Black Pond

Beseck Mountain / Black Pond – Middlefield, CT

Beseck Mountain is located on the Mattabesett Trail in Middlefield, CT. Total elevation is 840 feet. It’s a 3.7 out and back hike from the parking area on route 66. You can also park at Black Pond to get onto the Mattabesett Trail and hike up to Beseck Mountain from there. The beginning of this hike is a bit steep but once you’re on the ridge-line it levels out. You also get nice views looking over Black Pond once your on the ridge.

Hiking with your pup at Beseck Mountain

I never see too many people on this trail but Java and I enjoy it for a quick after-work hike. It’s a hike I would recommend for pups of all skill levels as it’s a gradual incline up and no really difficult sections. Black Pond also is a nice swimming spot for your pup once you are done hiking as there isn’t much water on the trail itself.

Bonus! Beseck Mountain summit is a nice place to watch the sunset as the views do face west!
