The Beehive Trail Map

The Beehive – Acadia National Park, ME

Beehive trail is one of the most popular trails in Acadia. It’s known for its steep climb up, ladders, cliff drops, and iron rung climbs up the mountain. Dogs aren’t allowed on the beehive trail but you don’t have to climb up the beehive trail to get to the summit.

We took the Bowl Trail around to summit Beehive mountain summit and it was a rather nice trail. It wasn’t too steep and had some nice views on it.

If you make it to the summit of The Beehive trail and you aren’t too tired to add on a bit of distance it’s worth walking down to “the bowl”. It’s a really nice pond and a perfect place to let the pups go swimming on hot days.

Hiking the Beehive with your pup

As I mentioned before, pups aren’t allowed on the Beehive Trail but they are allowed at the summit if you take the Bowl trail up. There isn’t much shade at the summit of a lot of the mountains in Acadia so be mindful of your pup’s paws and bring plenty of water for both of you. This hike was a bit challenging in sections but nothing a pup that is in good shape and used to hiking wouldn’t be able to handle.
