St John’s Ledges

St John’s Ledges – Kent, CT

This trail was a bit hard for me to find, so here are the best directions I could find : http://berkshirehiking.com/hikes/st_johns.html or use AllTrails.com.

There are multiple ways to get to St. John’s Ledges. You can park on River Road and climb up a rather steep incline, up to the ledges. It’s about a mile along the A.T. before you hit the summit. St. John’s Ledges are marked with a wooden sign on a tree so you will know when you reached the summit. I personally like parking on Skiff Mountain Road and hiking over Caleb’s peak to St. John’s Ledges. Also, you can make it into a loop by walking back down River Rd to the parking area. The loop is about 8 miles long and offers some really nice views.

Hiking St. John’s Ledges with your pup

There weren’t many steep sections on the trail that I can see pups struggling with if they’re in good shape. If you’re hiking up from River road it does require a bit of a rock scramble in some sections so not recommended for beginners. Overall St. John’s Ledges was a very dog-friendly hike and Java really enjoyed the hike.
