Champlain Mountain

Champlain Mountain Trail Map

Champlain Mountain – Acadia National Park, ME

With dogs not being allowed on the beehive trail or the Precipice trail, we decided to hike up the Bowl Trail to summit Beehive first then make our way back down the Bowl Trail and over to Champlain Mountain via the Champlain South Ridge Trail. The summit of Mount Champlain is only about 1.8miles from the summit of Beehive so it didn’t add too much hiking to our day.

Champlain South Ridge trail is a very dog friendly trail that has some amazing views and very gradual grade to it. It is pretty exposed for most the ridgeline so the rocks did get hot but overall wasn’t too bad.

Another way you could summit Champlain Mountain with avoiding The Precipice trail would be taking the Champlain North Ridge Trail from Ocean Road up to the summit. There is a small parking area at the trail head, but you can park at Bear Brook Picnic Area which guarantees a parking spot and only adds about .4 of a mile (round trip) to the hike. There is also a restroom at the picnic area.
