Galehead

Galehead Mtn – White Mountains, NH

Galehead Mountain provides some truly distinctive vistas, and summiting it was a real pleasure. What made the experience even more memorable was the availability of refreshments at Galehead Hut – a great treat if you have some extra cash on hand. The thought of indulging in brownies fueled my motivation to reach the summit and return promptly to enjoy the freshly prepared food. I hadn’t realized how famished I was, but ended up devouring two bowls of soup, three cookies, and two brownies. It seems that trekking across six of the 4,000-footers over three days can really work up an appetite.

Do note that Galehead Hut is not dog-friendly, so if you’re planning to stop by for a bite, be aware that dogs are not allowed inside. Aside from that, my pup thoroughly enjoyed the hike. The terrain above the treeline was quite rocky, so keep an eye on your dog’s paws. Overall, it was a delightful hike up to the summit.
