Mansell Mountain

Mansell Mountain Trail Map

Mansell Mountain – Acadia National Park, Maine

This trail was such a fun hike! I didn’t know at the time of hiking in Acadia that some of the trails are not dog-friendly. There is no sign indicated no dogs allowed on the Perpendicular Trail so our first hike in Acadia was Mansell Mountain Via the Perpendicular Trail. Had I known the rule I would not have taken Java on the trail but I didn’t find out until after we left Acadia.

The Perpendicular Trail does have some of the most impressive stone stairs of the entire park and worth checking out. The views are also well worth the laborious stair climb up as once you get toward the summit you get really nice overlooks of Long Pond looking toward Beech Mountain. Total round trip distance is about 2.2 miles.

Hiking Mansell Mountain With Your Pup

As I mentioned Perpendicular Trail is not dog-friendly however you can still summit Mansell Mountain via the Cold Brook Trail to the Mansell Mountain Trail. This is the route we took down and it was still a bit steep in sections but overall a pleasant descent down.
