Mount Greylock

Mount Greylock Trail Map

Mount Greylock – Lanesborough, MA

Elevation: 3,491 feet

Mount Greylock is the highest peak in Massachusetts! I’ve hiked Mount Greylock twice now. My first loop indicated above and the second loop indicated below. It is a fun hike, not one of my favorites but worth the experience. I’m not a fan of hikes that you can drive to the top because I don’t enjoy finally getting to a summit and being surrounded by cars and people that drove up, it ruins the solitude and feeling of accomplishment for me. Also, dogs are encouraged to be on leash due to cars never being too far away. Both times I’ve hiked Greylock there were park rangers out asking people to keep their dogs leashed at all times. The park ranger did mention that there have been some black bears, bobcats, and lynx spottings on the mountain so for your pup’s safety, keep them on the leash.

Dogs are allowed in the Veterans War Memorial Tower located at the summit of Mt. Greylock.

Dogs are allowed to stay in the Bascom Lodge located at the summit of Mt. Greylock.

Hiking Mt Greylock with you pup

Mt. Greylock is a very dog-friendly hike. As I mentioned they do really encourage you to keep them on a leash at all times but they do encourage you to bring your pup along. The trails were pretty easy for Java and no rock scrambles or tough sections on any trail that we took. We also saw lots of other pups enjoying the trails while we were at the summit!
