Macedonia State Park is a beautiful park in Kent, CT. It makes for an excellent day hike spot and I love that parts are pretty challenging compared to most CT parks. I like to do the whole blue trail which is about 6.8 mile loop. The east side is definitely the easier side, the west side has some pretty steep sections but also has all the views. The lookout points do make the hard climbs worth the effort.
This is also one of the few Connecticut State Parks that allows camping. It offers 51 sites in a rustic setting. The camping season begins the Friday before opening day of fishing and ends Labor Day ($14/night CT residents $24/night non-CT residents Plus Reservation Processing Fee). I have personally never camped here but looks like a nice camping area.
NOTE: The Campground may be closed for 2019 season – Check with DEEP for updates.
Every time I’ve hiked Macedonia State Park there have been pups on the trail. It’s a fun hike for everyone, a bit challenging in sections but the scenery is amazing. I do recommend Macedonia State Park to pup hikers of all skill levels as there are many easy trails and scenic walks in the park as well as hard steep trails.
