This was an out and back hike. The summit is approximately 1.8 miles up on the Chippewa Trail. There wasn’t a ton of parking for this hike on Lime Kin Road but we found a nice pull-off spot that worked for the day.
Black Mountain was a bit harder than I thought it was going to be. I hiked this mountain on January 1st, 2019 and there was lots of snow and ice in certain places. I, of course, didn’t bring any crampons or ice traction devices to help us up the mountain which made the steep sections a bit tricky to navigate. Java has no issues climbing this ice mountain, he had a great time ice-skating all over the mountain!
