Mount Carrigain offers an enjoyable hiking experience in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, with its fire tower summit providing breathtaking 360-degree views of the surrounding landscape. The trail also features additional viewpoints to appreciate the natural beauty of the area.
We parked on Sawyer River Road, where a sizable parking lot accommodated numerous vehicles. If the lot is full, you can also park along the dirt road’s side. The trail begins with a relatively flat section for the first mile before gradually increasing in incline. The final half-mile proved to be the steepest part of the hike. Unfortunately, cloud cover obscured our views on the day we summited, but our canine companions still enjoyed the adventure.
Mount Carrigain is a dog-friendly hike, suitable for pups accustomed to the White Mountains’ terrain. Most sections of the trail are easily navigable for experienced hiking dogs, making it an excellent choice for those looking to explore the White Mountains with their four-legged friends. Embark on this delightful hike up Mount Carrigain to appreciate the panoramic views and share a memorable day with your furry companion.
