Mount Hale stands out as one of the shortest hikes among the 48 peaks over 4,000 feet in New Hampshire. A mere 2.2 miles along the Hale Brook Trail takes you to the summit, making the out-and-back hike just 4.4 miles in total. The trek is relatively easy and features a stunning waterfall along the majority of the ascent, adding to its scenic charm. The only drawback for some may be the lack of views at the summit. However, you’ll know you’ve reached the top when you encounter an open field with a large cairn.
The hike took us only 3.5 hours to complete, and with no particularly steep sections, it’s a trail that many dogs would likely enjoy.
