To get to the summit of Mount Hight we started at the Glen ellis falls parking lot. We took the Wildcat Ridge trail up to Wildcat D, then over to Wildcat A, down to the Carter Lakes, Up to Carter Dome and finally to Mt Hight! Mt. Height had the best views of the entire day! The summit was beautiful with 360 views and a giant rock cairn at the summit. After doing the wildcats and Carter dome, we were debating skipping mount hight and just taking Carter Dome Trail over and down to the Nineteen Mile Brook Trail but really happy we decided to add the extra .2 miles and stay on the Carter – Moriah Trail. From Carter Dome to Mt. Hight the trail was really easy and didn’t gain or lose much elevation at all.
After getting to the summit of Mt. Hight getting down to Zeta Pass was a bit steep but just felt like going down a long rocky staircase. After Zeta Pass we took the Carter Dome Trail down which was a bit steep in sections but leveled out as you approached the Nineteen Mile Brook Trail. The Nineteen Mile Brook Trail was a beautiful way to finish this long day hike, It was very gradual decline with well-marked trails and wide paths.
Mount Height was a very dog friendly hike and the summit was beautiful. Definitely recommend grabbing Mount Hight if you’re nearby and looking to grab a nice view.
