East Osceola provided a fun hiking experience, with a level of difficulty on the easier side for NH 4,000-footers, though it did have a few challenging sections. We took the Greenley Pond trail to East Osceola and then continued to Mount Osceola before turning back. Mount Osceola proved slightly more difficult than East Osceola. While East Osceola didn’t offer many views, Mount Osceola boasted stunning 360-degree vistas! Our GPS recorded a total of 8 miles for the hike. Some fellow hikers suggested that starting from Tripoli Road and taking the Mount Osceola Trail is an easier route, but we couldn’t confirm this without two cars.
We encountered numerous dogs on the trail, and Java thoroughly enjoyed the hike! It made for an easy day hike, but be cautious of the “Chimney section,” as smaller or older dogs may find it challenging. The Chimney is situated approximately halfway between Mount Osceola and East Osceola. If you’re going from Osceola to East, you’ll need to descend the Chimney, with the less steep section on the left. If you’re approaching from East Osceola, you’ll have to climb the Chimney, and the easier path would be staying to your right as you ascend.
