To get to the summit of North Carter we parked at the Carter-Moriah trailhead. We hiked up to Mount Moriah and took the Carter-Moriah across all the Carter summits (North Carter, Middle Carter and South Carter). After South Carter we took the Carter-Dome trail down to the Nineteen Mile Brook Trail and finished at the Nineteen Mile Brook parking area.
Overall the hike was pretty easy but long. Going up Moriah wasn’t too steep and was actually one of the easier 4000 ft summits to get. The carters didn’t have any views but going across them all were pretty easy and going down the Carter Dome trail was pretty mild as well. Overall very doable in a day but due to the millage would be a very long day (about 16 miles total). To break it up you can stay at Imp Shelter which is located between Mount Moriah and North Carter which makes this a way easier overnight hike.
North Carter is a very dog friendly hike. Java didn’t struggle on any section of this hike and with the gradual up to Moriah he had no issues. Also, Imp campsite is dog friendly.
