I did the Tripyramids as a loop trail starting at Livermore Road parking area and continuing on to the Livermore trail to summit North Tripyramid. Then I turned on the MT Tripyramid Trail to summit Middle Tripyramid and continued on the same trail to reach the summit of South Tripyramid Mountain. The South summit wasn’t very difficult to get to once you’re on the Mt. Tripyramid trail. It doesn’t have any views at the summit but there is a big rock cairn to mark the summit.
Going down the Mt. Tripyramid Trail was a bit steep and had lots of loose rocks that made it take a bit longer than expected to get back to the Livermore Road Trail. If you’re careful with your footing, it isn’t too difficult and it does have nice views which helps when you do want to take a break.
South Tripyramid Mountain was a dog-friendly hike but I say that lightly as it depends on which trail you decide to take up. Java did struggle a bit going up the Livermore Trail but he didn’t struggle at all going down the Tripyramid Trail.
