The Scaur was a really nice and easy mountain summit. I parked at the parking lot by the Livermore Road trail and hiked in via the Livermore Road Trail. Livermore Road is a very well used trail that lots of bikers and hikers use as it’s super well marked and pretty wide.
After a mile on the Livermore Road trail you’ll see a sign on the left of the trail for Scaur / Irene’s Path. Up until this point the trail is very flat. Once you’re on Irene’s Path Trail you start getting some climb but overall very easy. After a mile of hiking on Irene’s Path you’ll reach the summit of The Scaur. There’s a bunch of rocks and the blazes end. If you climb over the boulders you’re greeted with amazing views of Waterville Valley.
This was a very dog friendly hike and the trail was well marked. I recommend this hike to all as a nice easy day hike. It’s 4 miles total (2 miles in and 2 miles out) with nice views and easy walking for humans and dogs alike.
